To qualify for the federal EV tax credit, the seller must report the required information to you and the IRS at the time of sale, and you must not exceed certain income eligibility thresholds. In addition, the vehicle must:

• Be bought new
• Not to exceed an MSRP of $80,000 for vans, SUVs, and trucks
• Not to exceed an MSRP of $55,000 for other vehicles
• Have a battery capacity of at least 7 kWh
• Have a GVWR of less than 14,000 pounds
• Be made by a qualified manufacturer
• Undergo final assembly in North America
• Meet critical mineral and/or battery component requirements

While there are plans to return the Bolt EV to the lineup as a GM Ultium-platform-based model in late 2025, it isn’t available to Bettendorf, IA drivers (or anyone else, for that matter) yet. So while we do think that it will ultimately qualify, it’s difficult to be certain at the moment.

Is there a Chevy Equinox EV Tax Credit?

Yes. According to the EPA, the 2025 Equinox EV and Blazer EV are both eligible for the full $7,500 tax credit.
